Course Description

Despite the importance of maintaining Situational Awareness (SA) and a Common Operational Picture (COP) for all types of incidents, there are few resources available for EOC personnel to improve their skills and knowledge in this area. The EOC Situational Awareness and Common Operational Picture Course builds on FEMA’s Advanced Situational Awareness (SA) and Common Operating Picture (COP) course E143 by combining the fundamentals of SA and COP with in depth explanations, discussions, and best practices for achieving SA and COP in the EOC.

  • Explain the role of SA and COP in the Integrated Emergency Management System.
  • Apply the critical steps required for an SA and COP system to effectively improve critical decision-making.
  • Apply best practices to facilitate EOC SA and COP system improvement.
