The Threat Assessment and Response course is designed to provide training for all Bomb Technicians, irrespective of ability or experience. It is based on a non specific to theater of operations. The scope of the modular training is focused on conventional permissive environment. It is assumed that a full complement of EOD equipments is available and finally it is assumed throughout, unless stated otherwise that there are no time imperatives to be considered. This course will be delivered by three instructors over a period of five days. The first day will involve all the theory pertaining to Threat Assessment. This is delivered in the format of modules. There are eight in total. The remainder of the week will provide a practical platform for all students to undergo an evaluated IED scenario in which they will be expected to deploy their EOD equipments to render safe an IED. This will be concluded by a full verbal debrief. Finally, the course will be presented with alternative neutralization techniques that can be deployed in the event of being tasked to an incident that involves an IED within a vehicle. Course can accommodate up to 16 operators.
Performance Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will have additional knowledge, skills and abilities to:
- Determine the correct Threat Assessment
- Demonstrate the various techniques used to collect and formulate the appropriate Threat Assessment
- Improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of an IEDD team when responding to an IED /EOD Incident
- Explain the reasons why Forensic Evidence must be identified and preserved during all IEDD incidents
