Willdan has managed energy efficiency, load capacity reduction, and demand response programs on behalf of our utility customers since 2009. Our experience successfully delivering every aspect of over 70 utility demand-side management programs shapes our designs for new utility programs. Willdan’s software application, LoadSEER, quickly is becoming the standard for guiding utilities in grid modernization and distributed energy resources integration planning. Willdan has brought recognition to our clients through our energy-saving strategies and our approach to outreach and marketing. For example, Willdan has developed our blitz strategy to reach underserved and hard-to-reach customers by placing temporary project staff in rural areas to sell projects immediately install projects eliminating costly travel and labor costs.
As program implementers for major state and utility programs, we have obtained more than $650 million in incentives and rebates for utility customers — 70 utility programs for 62 utilities across the country.
Willdan’s delivery models range from subcontractor delivery to direct installation and full turnkey delivery. Whether you're in the business of generating, transferring, or distributing energy, we have a team of experts on-hand with an excellent grasp of your priorities, challenges, and customers.
The following projects have been completed as part of our delivery of utility programs.
Willdan demonstrates exemplary performance for our utility customers — from launching the largest direct-install program in the nation for ConEdison NY to driving high energy savings in hard-to-reach communities for Puget Sound Energy.
Since 2009, Willdan has implemented Consolidated Edison’s CDI Program. Our contract has been extended through two successful recompetes. This program primarily provides small businesses with direct installation services for lighting, HVAC, controls, and refrigeration measures. Willdan’s program delivery has led to the completion of 95,000 energy efficiency surveys and 13,000 energy retrofit projects and annual electric savings of 700,000 MWh.
In 2014, Willdan began implementing a Small Business Direct Install Adder initiative that has provided 34 MW of demand reduction for the Queens borough of New York.
Willdan implements SDG&E's LCPP, which offers incentives to facility owners who are interested in retrofitting their HVAC systems or replacing their chillers. These energy-efficiency and renewable energy project installations will deliver 18 MW of incremental replacement capacity by 2022.
The LCPP was established by the California Public Utility Commission’s landmark 2014 “Track 4 Decision,” which was prompted by the permanent retirement of the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station. The decision authorized SDG&E to procure between 500 MW and 800 MW of incremental replacement capacity by 2022. Of this amount, at least 200 MW must come from “preferred resources,” including cost-effective energy efficiency, demand response, renewable resources, distributed generation, and energy storage solutions.
