OCTA, John Wayne Airport North Gates — Orange County, CA
Willdan assisted Orange County's John Wayne Airport with civil and structural engineering for the North Clear Zone, one of two terminal buildings constructed in 2004 which add six gates to the existing 14.
Willdan designed a detention facility, oil/water separator, trench drain and grading, and coordinated with state and federal agencies.
Town of Kearny, Kearny Airport Flood Reconstruction – Pinal County, Arizona
ADOT Airport of the Year
When severe flooding of the Gila River destroyed Kearny’s airport runway, wastewater treatment plant, recreational lake and campground, the Town hired Willdan to provide design and construction management services to restore these facilities and to mitigate their exposure to future flooding. Extensive environmental mitigation efforts were included.
All facilities were successfully replace and protected from future flood damage. As program manager, Willdan attended weekly meetings with FEMA and ADEM, developed over six alternatives for the reconstruction projects, and coordinated and balanced regulations and funding requirements of over 13 Federal, State and county agencies.
The Arizona Department of Transportation awarded Kearny Airport its Airport of the Year in 2003.
