Overview
Americans use up to 21 percent of our nation’s energy to run their homes. While the residential sector uses far less energy than the commercial and industrial sectors, it is the heaviest user for local communities and the greatest concern for cities trying to meet their carbon-reduction goals.
In our work with builders, we help identify technologies and building practices that will advance residential new construction whole-house solutions toward zero net energy homes. We believe the best approach is a whole-house solution with a comprehensive selection of measures that carefully combine the efficiency of the building envelope (i.e., insulation, windows, etc.) with efficient heating and cooling equipment, appliances and lighting.
.Representative Project
Southern California Edison NightBreeze Program
For Southern California Edison’s 2006-2008 IDEA program, we introduced a technologically advanced nighttime ventilation system into Southern California’s new home construction market. Called NightBreeze, and invented by Davis Energy Group, this night-time ventilation system is saves a home owner between 50-70 percent on air conditioning costs. NightBreeze integrates HVAC with a fresh air ventilation system that saves energy, improves indoor air quality, and enhances comfort.
