Case Studies

Representative Project: Central Washington University

Capturing the full potential of energy efficiency improvements that exist in most higher education facilities takes considerable planning, budgeting, and execution of a long range master plan. Willdan, through Abacus Resource Management (which joined Willdan in 2015) has been applying this comprehensive approach at Central Washington University for the past 30 years.

We have helped them plan, budget, and execute over $30M in facility improvements. The energy savings have grown to 10 million KWH of electricity and one million therms of natural gas per year. This represents an annual avoided cost of $1M per year and a cumulative cost savings of nearly $15M over the past 30 years. The more significant benefit to the University has been keeping their facilities in top shape for their students.
